Will The Rv Industry Survive The Economic Crisis

Unfortunately, the immediate future of the RV Industry is not looking bright. I am afraid there will still be a few more RV Manufacturers going out of business. Once the dust settles, the RV Industry will start to slowly grow once again and yes, people will start to buy RVs again.

I am going to use the example of the Dot Com Bubble burst of 2000 and 2001 to try to explain what has happened to and what is going to happen to the RV Industry. You are probably asking yourself “What the heck does the Dot Com Bubble Burst have to do with the RV Industry?” stick with me here it will all make sense at the end (I hope).

In the late 90s more and more people were getting on the internet. Some retailers and entrepreneurs saw the internet as an opportunity to start selling tons of merchandise. So they started up a bunch of websites selling everything from pet supplies to music CDs. The philosophy of some of these dot-coms was “If we build a website people will come and buy all of our stuff”. So the dot-coms starting borrowing millions of dollars from the banks and went public with their stock so they could build their websites. The stocks kept soaring and the dot-coms kept borrowing more and more money to add on to their websites and advertise them. There was only one problem; a lot of these dot-coms were making no money at all.

In fact there became a glut of dot-coms on the internet all spending millions on their websites to sell their stuff. These dot-coms knew they couldn’t fail, after all it was the internet and everybody was making millions of dollars on the internet weren’t they?

Well, all the sales didn’t come in as expected, in fact some of these dot-coms never made a profit the whole time that they were in business. Now the banks were getting worried about some of these dot-coms, because loan payments were not being made on a timely basis and some of the banks started to call-in some of the loans. Now the shareholders were getting worried because of lack of sales and profits, defaulted loans, bad business practices, etc and they started selling off their stock like crazy and stock prices plummeted and lot of the dot-coms went belly up (out of business).

Here are just a few of the dot-coms that went out of business, Beyond.com, Boo.com, Pets.com, KOZMO.com, eToys.com, eXcite.com and so on and so on. But wait if you search the internet you can still find some of these websites, “What’s up with that?” Well, some of the other dot-coms that did not go out of business bought their names and are using them.

Now there were some survivors of the Dot-Com Bubble Burst such as eBay.com, Amazon.com, Travelocity.com and Yahoo.com to name a few. It took these survivors awhile to get back on track, but they are now flourishing.

So what went wrong? Rather than trying to figure out what the consumer really wanted, the dot-coms adopted the philosophy of “if we build it they will come” and if they don’t come, we will just borrow more money and make our website bigger and advertise more until they do come. It never dawned on the dot-coms that not all of the internet visitors were ready to buy stuff on-line, because they were not sure how secure their transactions would be (there was no consumer confidence).

These dot-coms also ignored the fact that were lots of other websites that were selling the same stuff they were and that these other websites actually understood what the internet consumer wanted. These other websites were doing a better job at customer service, etc. These big dot-coms just ignored the fact that there were too many websites selling the same stuff and ended up going out of business.

Does any of the above sound familiar? During the 90s and into the 2000s many of the RV manufactures increased production and opened new factories as a result of strong RV Sales. Of course a lot of the manufacturers had to get loans to continue their expansions. According to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association RV sales peaked in 2006 at about 390,000 vehicles. Some of the RV Manufacturers were caught by surprise when RV sales started to decline in 2007.

Then came the volatile fuel prices which caused a lot of potential RV buyers to steer clear of buying “fuel-guzzling” RVs. To be honest, there really has not been a major improvement in fuel mileage in the motorized RV category for the past two decades. Now, if the fuel prices were not enough to hurt the RV Industry, the housing loan debacle sure was. Lending institutions were being hit hard by subprime loan defaults. So their reaction was to tighten up the loan market making it harder for someone to buy a “luxury item” such as an RV.

Then to put the final nail in the coffin of the RV Industry the stock market decided to make a “major price correction” in other words the stock market plummeted. This price correction affected a lot of “baby boomers” financially. Since baby boomers are the major buyers of RVs it also affected the RV Industry. Because the RV industry was too slow to react to the economic downturn, they produced too many RVs that were not selling, creating the new RV glut that we have now. So the RV Industry has gone from “feast to famine” in 2 1/2 years.

So, as you see there are quite a few similarities between the Dot-Com Bubble Burst of 2000 and 2001 and the RV Bubble Burst of 2008 and 2009. Just like the Dot-Com Bubble Burst there will be survivors of the RV Bubble Burst. The number of RV Manufacturers that survive is yet to be determined as we are in the middle of the RV Bubble Burst. But there will be survivors.

What will happen to the RV Industry in the future is going to be in the hands of the surviving RV Manufacturers. All of the surviving RV Manufacturers by default will have larger market shares of RV sales then they had prior to the bubble burst. Some will come back quicker than others. Some may even start to look at the future and build some innovative motorized RVs that are far more fuel efficient, while still providing the luxuries that RVers expect. Hopefully all of them will have learned from this experience; that they need to keep their ears to the ground and have contingency plans in place on how to react quickly to changes in the RV marketplace.

What can RV consumers expect? Once the glut of RVs is sold off, you can expect fewer RVs to choose from. You will not have a selection of unlimited floor plans to choose from. Depending on the type of RV you are looking at you may find that there are only two or three companies making them. You may also find some very innovative RVs to choose from made by either existing RV Manufacturers or brand new RV Manufacturers who are trying to make a name for themselves. Either way, the RV Industry will still be around, hopefully a little bit wiser from their experience over the past couple of years.

RVing is not dead; it is just trying to catch its breath. The long term future of RVing will be bright as long as the same mistakes are not repeated.

Captcha Bypass Is In Business Again

We all know CAPTCHAs. We have all times succumbed to some of its more twisted and messy forms at least a dozen times. You know the drill, try to guess the text shown in the image box with the squiggly letters, type it in a text box, hit the submit button, realize you submitted the wrong text, redo everything until you get it right. Yeah, I bet you know what Im talking about.

Nevertheless, we all have learned to live with this short and recurring e-torture given its apparent use.

CAPTCHA is an acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. As it name implies the main function of a CAPTCHA is to distinguish Humans and Computers Apart. All the squiggly letters, weird sizes, color meshes and overall lost of user time are made to prevent bots and/or automated scripts to post content were only real users are supposed to post.

So we deal with the pain of typing and retyping the CAPTCHA texts over and over again to avoid the even greater pain of having a web page overran by marketing accounts and unsolicited messages trying to sell products. So this way it would be hard for bots to bypass the initial account creation procedures and preventing the Black Hat Marketers from creating hundreds and even thousands of accounts. Now we can all use our blogs, social networks and other web 2.0 services in peace without being interrupted by unsolicited messages.

A short term victory that didnt last very long

It turns out that the Black Hat Marketers are sneaky and some of them have very advanced programming skills, so they started to create methods to bypass CAPTCHAs. So at first they began creating CAPTCHA OCR (Optical Character Recognition) systems and other CAPTCHA recognition methods to effectively become masters of CAPTCHA bypass. They took away the funny colors, put filters to take away unwanted lines and trained neural network applications to recognize the characters in spite of the funky fonts that were in use.

Again, a short term victory for the Black Hat Marketers

The internet community back lashed with CAPTCHAs that were much more difficult to bypass. The effectiveness of CAPTCHA OCR went down to around 30% for the best automated CAPTCHA recognition systems. The web 2.0 sites were cheering; there was final victory against massive automated marketers. Toasts were made, babies kissed, the new CAPTCHAs were here to save us!

Not so fast

Lets go back to the beginning and reference a piece of text 300 words back: CAPTCHA is an acronym for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart. Wait, so in the end this test is only to tell Computers and Humans Apart, right? Some crazy Black Marketing fella might have suggested Hey, lets just use Humans then. Now we can Bypass CAPTCHAs since were using humans and not computers. I believed that anyone that heard this just laughed out really loud. Who in their right mind would spend long hours in front of a computer screen inserting the text they see in CAPTCHAs over and over again? Not only that. What would be the costs of having a person sitting down all day long inserting CAPTCHAs into a computer?
Answer to first question: People from very poor countries.
Answer to second question: Very Low.

Black Hat Marketers are the big winners for now. Human-based CAPTCHA bypass services have been established for as low as $1.75 for 1000 solved CAPTCHAs (yes, not a scam) and there is even a new market created for this activity. These Human-based CAPTCHA solving services hire a small army of decoders or operators that are happy to insert text for endless hours in exchange of a small pay. All the web 2.0 sites now have to create additional filters and employ extra tactics to keep automated unsolicited messages away and use CAPTCHAs only to keep away the rookie marketers.

Currently, some new companies have invented some other ways to increase difficulty for Human-based systems to decode a CAPTCHA. We now have audio CAPTCHAs, video CAPTCHAs, puzzle CAPTCHAs, math CAPTCHAs, etc. But none of these CAPTCHA systems has grown in a wide scale or have been deployed to any of the main web 2.0 sites. Either way, Im pretty sure that the Human-based CAPTCHA bypass services will find a way to get over these obstacles and keep the marketers in business.
In the end, site owners and marketers will always be playing the cat and mouse game. CAPTCHAs work partially, but as users we will always have to input them. And with the new increase of mobile traffic, were still to see a standardized multi-platform method from stopping unsolicited marketing messages in web 2.0 sites.

Learn How To Clean Pearl Jewelry

The luster of pearl jewelry is without a doubt charming. No matter if it is a pearl necklace or maybe a pair of pearl earrings, you can’t help but appreciate their gleam. If you’ve paid for your own pearl jewelry or just accepted the piece to be a gift, it’s important to look after it to be certain it lasts a lifetime.

The Thickness of Pearl Jewelry
Diamonds, that have been compacted for eons deep within the world, happen to be the hardest gem stone in the earth. Pearls, conversely, are actually grown inside shells of oysters. These kinds of creatures of the sea manufacture the actual nacre of the pearl, the lustrous coating that provides pearls its luminosity. Unlike expensive diamonds, pearls tend to be tender, so you want to take the measures essential to continue to keep these kinds of gems appearing their finest.

Pearl Jewelry Is not for every Event
Even though a straightforward gold wedding wedding ring could stand up to the rigors associated with working together with your hands, your pearl band isn’t going to. The same remains accurate for your favorite pearl necklace along with pearl earrings. So usually do not have on your pearls while you engage in physical work, work in the backyard, or work out at the fitness center. The soil and sweat will shorten the life to your pearl jewelry. Likewise, whilst the pearls are derived from the water, that doesn’t mean that your pearl jewelry is going to survive whenever you swim in the ocean, surf, or scuba dive. Pearls certainly aren’t required to be closed away and work only for special occasions, but you should be careful that yout pearls are not ruined by the weather.

Chemical substances Can be Dangerous to Pearl Jewelry
As some people are sensitive to preservatives, pearl jewelry is often “hypersensitive” to hairsprays, fragrances, and ointments. The harmful chemicals confined in many of these solutions – even those identified as “herbal” – can easily shorten the life expectancy of the pearls. This is not to say that you ought to form your hair or apply your fragrance in case you’re going to put on your pearls. Rather, keep the “last on, first off” guideline at heart. When you find yourself dressing, your jewelry should be the very last item you put on, just before you head out the door. Whenever you come back, your pearl jewelry should come off first, prior to deciding to kick off your heels and relax for the night. By using this tip, you’ll reduce your pearl jewelry’s exposure to chemical substances and lengthen the life of your jewelry.

Keeping Pearl Jewelry Nice and Clean
Similar to all jewelry, pearl jewelry becomes filthy over time. You may softly clean your piece yourself using a a little wet fluffy clean pad. It truly is essential that you avoid any sort of scrubbing equipment, similar to a sponge as well as a tooth brush, and that you avoid using soap or detergent. After cleansing, place your pearls on a fresh, tender cloth to be able to dry.
It’s also possible to have your pearl jewelry professionally cleaned. Many jewelry retailers which are dedicated to pearl jewelry provide cleaning services for Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, and freshwater pearls of every color – such as white, pink, and black pearls.

Re-Stringing Pearl Necklaces
When you’ve got an Akoya pearl necklace, a Tahitian pearl necklace, or a freshwater pearl necklace, and you wear it on a regular basis, it really is wise to replace the silk string just about every few years. Re-stringing your own pearl necklace helps ensure that it is not going to bust and you won’t lose one or more pearls.
